Service Description

This is the second level of class for students who have completed an introductory level class and want to learn the fundamental skills needed to use a handgun defensively. Personal introductions and a review of safety rules and a brief conversation on choosing a handgun for your defensive needs are the only time spent indoors. The remaining time in the day is spent on the range. This is an active course that will keep you on your feet most of the day. We will be covering: Marksmanship fundamentals, working out of the holster safely, multiple shots and follow through, reloading the gun, gun malfunctions, basic positions to shoot from, use of concealment/cover, one had shooting. As stated this is a very active class with a reasonably high round count. Breaks will be taken throughout the day to give students needed times of rest. Safety is our highest priority. Students should bring water, food for lunch as well as snacks to fuel them throughout the day. Clothing appropriate for the day including shirts with a high neckline rain gear if needed, sturdy shoes or boots, a brimmed hat and trousers (pants). Don't forget bug spray and sunscreen. Please message us if you have any questions. We can help and have on hand some of the following equipment. Please let us know if you need anything. Required equipment: Modern reliable semi automatic handgun (revolvers can be brought but you will be reloading more) A stiff outside the waistband kydex holster, it’s recommended that they have friction based retention. Leather holsters can work if they have a reinforced construction. Thumb or finger retention holsters are not recommended for this class. 3, 15(+) round magazines, if your capacity is smaller please bring enough magazines to have 45 rounds or more on you at a time. Speed loaders if you opt for a revolver Two magazine pouches A gun belt, A stiff leather belt can work but very few are good enough to compare to a real gun belt. Impact rated eyewear Hearing protection at or above 25 decibels. You may prefer to have two layers of hearing protection. We are expecting to shoot 400 rounds of ammunition. We recommend bringing 500 rounds in case the day moves faster.
