Service Description

1st session of 10 of the Defensive Handgun series This program’s goal: to train students to run their guns safely & defend themselves & their loved ones.  Consists of 10 dates in total: 8 sessions of the series will be held at GCFGA Pistol Range & 2 will be held in Spitfire's “shoot” house using SIRT pistols (not real guns) in Cornish NH.  Students should attend sessions in order of schedule to continue with live fire training. Some exceptions can be made. Pre-requisites: Proof of attending an introductory handgun program or equivalent Must know how to safely handle a gun & demonstrate the following: * Maintain muzzle discipline * Keep your finger off the trigger until the choice to fire has been made * Able to remove magazine, lock slide on & show clear * Ability to stand on a range for 4 hours with minimal breaks Required gear * A modern reliable semi-automatic 9mm (preferred caliber) pistol.  Must fit student's hand well & comfortably * A gun belt.  Most conventional bets are not stiff enough * A “duty” or outside the waistband holster * 2 Magazine Pouches: ability to carry two magazines * 3 Magazines min (readily carry 45 rounds on person) * Eye and Ear protection * 200 Rounds per session, 1,600 for full course Course description: We will cover the hows & whys of handling a gun safely & effectively for self defense & proper decision making for response to armed intruders in one’s home.  Methodical use of a holster, reloads, fixing malfunctions, use of sights 25 yards and in, engaging moving threats, use of cover & concealment, kneeling positions, shooting while moving, use of tactical flashlights, positive target identification (how not to shoot when you are startled), & priorities when moving through a residential structure. Safety: our highest priority Much of the learning will begin with students practicing dry (no ammo) to learn basic techniques & forms, involves a lot of repetition.  Live fire will only be introduced after the formation of safe techniques. Details: * DATES from 1 pm - 5 pm, Sundays July-November (check calendar for specific dates) * Where:  At Grafton County Fish & Game (153 Trues Brook Road, W Lebanon NH) and shoot house in Cornish * Cost per class:  $70, (cash or checks payable to Spitfire Firearms Training) or $700 for the 10 weeks or $1,148 to include ammunition.  Please bring payment the day of class * PRE registration required by June 20.
