Service Description

This class begins practical defensive training. This is for students who have learned and made habitual the safety portion of introductory classes & want to learn the fundamental skills needed to use a handgun defensively. We will start with personal introductions & a review of safety rules followed by a brief conversation on choosing a handgun for your defensive needs. This is an active course that will keep you on your feet most of the day Course objectives: Marksmanship fundamentals Working out of the holster safely Multiple shots & follow through Reloading the gun Gun malfunctions Ready positions One Handed Shooting Use of concealment/cover This is a very active class with a reasonably high round count. Breaks will be taken throughout the day to give students needed times of rest. Safety is our highest priority. Students should bring water, food for lunch as well as snacks to fuel them throughout the day. Clothing appropriate for the day including shirts with a high neckline rain gear if needed, sturdy shoes or boots, a brimmed hat & trousers (pants). Don't forget bug spray & sunscreen. Please message us if you have any questions Prerequisites: Must have completed an introductory handgun class & demonstrate/explain the following on demand: Situatioanal awareness, Trigger Finger discipline, Muzzle control, the ability to load, unload & confirm the gun is unloaded We can help and have on hand some of the following equipment. Please let us know if you need anything Required equipment: Modern reliable semi automatic handgun (revolvers can be brought but you will be reloading more) A gun belt, A stiff leather belt can work but very few are good enough to compare to a real gun belt A stiff outside the waistband kydex holster, it’s recommended that they have friction based retention. Leather holsters can work if they have a reinforced construction. Thumb or finger retention holsters are not recommended for this class 3, 15(+) round magazines, if your capacity is smaller please bring enough magazines to have 45 rounds or more on you at a time. Speed loaders if you opt for a revolver Ability to conveniently carry two magazines Impact rated eyewear Hearing protection at or above 25 decibels. You may prefer to have two layers of hearing protection 400 round of ammunition minimum, 500 recommended We will contact you roughly a week prior to class as a reminder.
