Defensive Handgun 2: Crucial Standards

Service Description
This class picks up where defensive Handgun 1 left off. More use of cover and a start to learning movment while using a gun. We will start with personal introductions & a review of safety rules followed by a dry warm up time. Then we start slowly as we review prior skills and use them as an opportunity to teach new ones. This is an active course that will keep you on your feet most of the day Course objectives: Holster review and walk backs: practice makes permanent Practical use of cover: more than a shield Turning to engage threats Speed kneel and double kneel Basic forward movement Basic lateral movement Basic diagonal movement (forward) Low light movement This is a very active class with a reasonably high round count. Breaks will be taken throughout the day to give students needed times of rest. Safety is our highest priority. Students should bring water, food for lunch as well as snacks to fuel them throughout the day. Clothing appropriate for the day including shirts with a high neckline & rain gear if needed, sturdy shoes or boots, a brimmed hat & trousers (pants). Don't forget bug spray & sunscreen. Prerequisites: Must have completed a defensive handgun 1 or it's equivalent & demonstrate/explain the following on demand: Situatioanal awareness, Trigger Finger discipline, Muzzle control, the ability to load, unload & confirm the gun is unloaded. We can help and have on hand some of the following equipment. Please let us know if you need anything. Required equipment: Modern reliable semi automatic handgun (revolvers can be brought but you will be reloading more). A gun belt, A stiff leather belt can work but very few are good enough to compare to a real gun belt. A stiff outside the waistband kydex or leather reinforced holster, it’s recommended that they have friction based retention. 3, 15(+) round magazines, must be able to have 45 rounds on the line at a time. Speed loaders if you opt for a revolver. Ability to conveniently carry two magazines. Impact rated eyewear. Hearing protection at 25 decibels+. You may prefer to have two layers of hearing protection. 400 rounds of ammunition minimum, 500 recommended. 9mm ammunition (Live Free Ballistics brand, Made in NH) for purchase at $14 for 50 rounds.
