Spitfire firearms training is happy to announce a class to help members understand safe handgun handling. This class is directly linked to the class we taught at the club in January, but is appropriate for introductory learners as well. This class or it’s equivalent will be required in order to attend the defensive handgun series we will be teaching July-Nov, but is also a very practical standalone class if you just want to get good fundamental instruction. It has been said many times that the key to becoming competent in anything is to master the fundamentals. Students will be coached starting with dry guns (no ammunition present) how to properly conduct the following: * Maintain muzzle discipline. * Keep your finger off the trigger until the choice to fire has been made. * Able to remove magazine, lock slide open and show clear. Once students are able to practice these items safely we will introduce live fire to the range. Additional coaching will be given for accuracy and other fundamentals, time allowing. Prerequisites for this course: A good attitude. Ability to stand for periods with limited breaks. Ability to take verbal instruction. Full equipment: Handgun, magazines, eye and ear protection, ammunition for your gun. Most equipment can be provided at no charge for this course: ammunition is extra. -Handgun: A modern reliable handgun (semi auto preferred), 2 magazines or speed loaders, 50 rounds of ammunition for your handgun. -Safety gear: Eye protection and Ear protection. We will inspect your gear to make sure it meets requirements. -We will have 9mm ammunition available at $14 for 50 rounds. -Date: Sunday July 7th 1 pm to 5 pm -Where: At Grafton County Fish & Game (153 Trues Brook Road, W Lebanon NH) -Cost: $65 per member -How to register: please sign up below and bring cash or check to the training date -Other: if you have questions about whether or not you meet these standards, please drop Nate a note: Spitfirearms@gmail.com -We will begin class on the pistol range. Please leave firearms and any other gun related items in your car until we need them. Students who can competently demonstrate the three main skills above will be eligible to join the defensive handgun series. If you are not ready yet there is still time to practice safely.
