Step up: Practical Handgun March 29th

Service Description

This class has been redesigned for 2026. This is to help the student who has completed intro to handgun and has demonstrated proficiency with our fundamental rules. In this class students will be coached through a series of frameworks to get them more experience behind the trigger and help them grow as shooters. We will discuss belts and holsters and lead students in a gun cleaning session to help you take ownership of your gun. We are expecting to shoot between 100 rounds. We will use the range and the clubhouse for this class. Our class progression: Review of safety rules Propioception: knowing body position etc Review and expansion of muzzle discipline concepts Load and unload review Review of shooting fundamentals Cadence: How fast can we safely shoot and what affects our time Distance: How far can we be from a target and safely shoot Precision: Testing our true accuracy Fun: Shooting steel or or other reactive targets for a bit of fun Gear considerations: Belts and holsters Gun Cleaning: Simpler than you think, but takes dedication Student must demonstrate the following: Situational awareness Muzzle Management Trigger finger discipline A positive attitude receptive to feedback & coaching All firearms/gear can be included in cost. Please let us know what caliber you need if you are bringing your own gun. Recommended gear if you bring your own: we will have plenty of extras on hand. Modern reliable handgun Ear protection you are used to wearing comfortably Impact rated eyewear that works with your prescription if you have one Gun cleaning equipment, please bring only mild gun cleaning agents Recommended attire: Clothing appropriate for the day's weather Shirts should have a high neckline Shoes should be supportive for athletic activity: no sandals, no crocs, no dress shoes A hat that will keep the sun out of your eyes that works with your safety gear Trousers/pants/shorts you would be comfortable kneeling in: we will need help cleaning up brass off the ground.
