I took the trip up from NYS to take Nate’s Ladies Defensive Pistol course. As a fairly new shooter with around 150 hours of instruction taken so far, I wanted to continue to expand on my skills with a different perspective and instructor. Nate delivered in a big way, providing a safe space for each of us to get a positive experience from the lesson. We worked on shooting from various positions, from cover and around barriers. He presented the information and demos tailored to our small class with varying backgrounds, and provided meaningful examples of real world scenarios where this knowledge and experience could be applied. I appreciated his ability to pivot his methods based on the performance of the group, and we each came away with our own items to focus and improve on with an understanding of how to do so. I had never taken a women’s firearms course before, and I would surely recommend this to all my friends.

-The 40 hr defensive handgun course led by SpitFire Firearms was exceptional; I highly recommend it. The knowledgeable and friendly instructors want you to succeed. The course builds on the fundamentals at a safe and appropriate speed.
-The course was a fun and interesting mix of instruction and hands on experience. We layered theory onto the skills we learned to help us assess situations and analyze scenarios.
-Small class sizes ensure personal attention. I walked away from this training with confidence, having formed safe habits. The instructor shared a variety of exercises I could do to further my training on my own. I look forward to further opportunities to continue to learn from these instructors.

“Awesome class last week! I approached learning to shoot with great caution and insecurity as a woman. After taking first the woman’s-only class with Nate and Ellen and then both a private lesson and another full class I can say I’m shocked by both my confidence and skill at shooting. Yesterday two friends to me to the range, one of them being a retired Colonel who remarked after watching me for an hour “whoever taught you, keep doing what you’re doing- they’ve done a great job!” I am deeply grateful for the respectful, skilled and FUN instruction I’ve had so far.
